Whop sports betting groups explained: what Whop is and how buying picks on it works
By Editorial Team · Updated
Whop is a marketplace where creators sell memberships to online communities, and most paid sports betting Discords now sell access through it. When you join a Whop sports betting group you pay Whop, Whop grants a role in the group's Discord, and Whop handles billing, verified reviews and cancellation. That is why our rankings use Whop's rating, review count and paying-member figures rather than the group's own claims.
What Whop is
Whop is a storefront and membership platform. A capper or betting community lists a product on Whop with a price and billing period, and Whop handles payment and access. The community itself still lives on Discord, and often on Telegram too, but the subscription, the reviews and the refund process live on Whop. For bettors this is useful: one account, one card on file, and reviews that can only be left by people who have actually paid.
How joining works
Click a join link, choose a plan (monthly is the norm; some groups offer weekly, quarterly or annual plans), pay on Whop, then connect your Discord account when prompted. Whop assigns you the member role in the group's server automatically. If your subscription lapses, the role is removed. The whole process takes a couple of minutes, and you do not need to message anyone to be let in, which is one way to spot a scam: legitimate Whop groups never ask you to pay a person directly.
What the Whop numbers tell you
Every ranked entry on this site shows three figures taken from Whop and refreshed hourly:
- Rating: the average score from verified paying members, out of 5. Only people who have paid can review, which makes it harder to fake than a Trustpilot page, though not impossible.
- Review count: how many verified members have reviewed. A 4.9 from 20 reviews means far less than a 4.8 from 1,300, which is why our composite score pulls small samples towards the average.
- Paying members: current active subscribers. This is a popularity signal, not a quality signal, and we weight it least.
What Whop does not tell you
Whop does not verify a capper's picks or record. A high rating means members are happy, which can reflect good picks, good chat or a hot month. It says nothing about whether the group beats the closing line. For that you need the group's record, or your own tracking; see our guide to verifying a capper's record.
Cancelling and refunds
Subscriptions are managed in your Whop account under memberships. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the period ends. Refunds are at the discretion of each community's policy, and Whop has a dispute process if a group fails to deliver what it listed. Because monthly cancellation is standard, there is rarely a reason to buy an annual plan before you have tested a group for a month.
Why we use Whop data in our rankings
Because it is the only data in this market that a group cannot type in itself. Every community we rank is a paid Whop listing with at least 100 verified reviews and a 4.5 average, scored on rating, review volume and paying members, then checked by hand for transparency and red flags. We earn a referral commission from Whop when readers join through our links; the rate is the same for every group and does not affect the order.
Questions people ask
What is Whop sports betting?
Shorthand for sports betting communities that sell membership through Whop, a marketplace for paid online communities. You pay on Whop, it grants you a role in the group's Discord, and it handles billing, verified reviews and cancellation. Most paid betting Discords now work this way.
Are Whop sports betting groups legit?
Whop itself is a legitimate payment and membership platform, and its reviews can only be left by paying members. It does not verify any group's picks or record, so a high rating means satisfied members, not proven profit. Check the group's record before paying.
How do I cancel a Whop betting Discord subscription?
Log in to Whop, open your memberships, select the group and cancel. You keep access until the current period ends and are not billed again. Refunds depend on the group's policy; Whop has a dispute process if a group did not deliver what was listed.
Why do the rankings use Whop ratings instead of win rates?
Because Whop ratings come from verified paying members and refresh automatically, while win rates are typed in by the group and rarely backed by a full record. We treat advertised win rates as unverified marketing and say so in each review.
